Individual Counseling

Individual Counseling can be used to address multiple issues that include (but are not limited to the following): anxiety, depression, anger, anorexia, bulimia, substance use, loss of a loved one, phobias, abuse, neglect, and mental disorders to name a few.  Treatment focuses on assisting individuals in identifying sources of their presenting problems which could be a result of family history, bullying, financial stressors, relationship issues, identity conflicts, absent parents, gang affiliations, health issues, environmental influences or any number of other sources.

Individual counseling usually consists of an intake process that involves completing legal documentation in which the client authorizes treatment; an assessment that takes 1 to 2 hours to complete; treatment planning that details the client’s treatment goals and outlines the treatment process, and sessions that range from 30 minutes to an hour with a focus on the treatment goals.

Individual counseling that involves children and teens utilizes a collaborative approach to address issues which result in problematic behavior by the child or teen.
